FAQ

How far in advance can I book a ride on SPOT?

Rides can be booked same-day on the SPOT Ride app or by phone. When using the app, you may request an on-demand (“Leave Now”) ride,  schedule a “Leave At” ride if you will be ready to leave at a certain time, or schedule an “Arrive By” ride if you need to arrive at a certain time, such as for an appointment.

Does the last ride of the day need to start by 9:30 p.m., or be completed by 9:30 p.m.?

Service hours designate first pick-up and last drop-off times. The service day starts at 6:30 a.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m., meaning that 6:30 a.m. is the earliest pick-up, and all drop-offs must be completed by 9:30 p.m.

How do I make sure I arrive by a certain time?

When booking, make sure to specify “Arrive by” when scheduling your trip. When selecting “Arrive by”, we recommend selecting a time 10-15 minutes (if possible) before the actual start time of your appointment in case there are unforeseen delays.

The time of my booking changed. What happened?

Depending on how you book, your pick-up time may change based on real-time traffic conditions, the pick-up or drop-off of other passengers, or other factors. Be prepared for your pick-up at least 5 minutes before your scheduled time.

I tried to book a trip within the service hours but was told there is no trip available. What happened?

If the time of your requested trip is within operating hours and within the service area, it is possible that the SPOT service is busy with other booked rides at the time you are requesting, or temporarily out of service. Please try submitting your booking request again in a few minutes, or call SPOT customer service at 503-907-7768. Also, please check the SPOT Ride app or the Ride Connection website in case there are any service disruptions.

How much does it cost to ride SPOT?

SPOT is free for riders. There is no charge for fare.

When booking a ride, how can I communicate that I have a bike or mobility device, or need accessible seating?

  • If you are a passenger with a bike, you can book a seat with Regular (bike) option. Bike racks, when available, have the capacity for two bikes.
  • If you require accessible seating, you can book a seat with the Accessible option.
  • If you use a mobility device, please select the most relevant option under “Accessibility” when booking a trip.

I travel to the same location frequently, can I save my home, work, or other favorite locations in the app for next time?

Yes. Riders can save favorite destinations in the app or add favorite locations in their rider profile.

Can I book a trip for someone else on my account if I’m not traveling with them?

No. You may only book a trip for multiple people if you are traveling with them. If they are traveling independently, they must create an account to ride or call SPOT customer service at 503-907-7768.

I am riding with a child. Does SPOT have booster/child seats on board?

SPOT does not provide booster/child seats. Booster/child seats must be installed by the rider.

Child seats are required by state law based on age and height. In Oregon:

What if I am traveling with a service animal or pet?

A service animal, trained to assist with tasks, may accompany you in the vehicle. The animal must remain under your control. When booking a trip, please choose “Accessibility” from your ride options and add a service animal or pet. Pets must be in crates.

Can I transfer from SPOT to TriMet, or vice versa?

Can I update a ride request with a different location or time?
